Activision/Treyarch have released a patch to address performance issues on Call of Duty: Black Ops III that is causing serious stuttering and stability problems on PCs.  The patch appears to fix some sort of CPU issue that was found with Intel Core i5 series processors. We took a quick look at the games Steam listing and found most all of the reviews right now are negative reviews.  Even after the patch has been released some folks are still having major issues with the game title.

Treyarch has acknowledged the issues and gave this tip:

“We have noticed that some systems may get better input response with FPS Cap set just below refresh rate. If you have a 60hz monitor, you can try enabling Vsync and setting your FPS Cap to 58.”

Over on Reddit there is a fix posted for PC FPS drops and stuttering, but we think this has been fixed already in the latest game patch this afternoon. If you are having issues you can try this:

Go into install directory steam, steamapps, common, Call of Duty Black Ops III, players folder and open the config.ini file scroll down a little to

//Thread count for handling the job queue WorkerThreads = “4” // 2 to 4

and change the “4” to a “2”

We are happy to see Treyarch issuing patches so soon and hope that they can get the game to run smoothly as no one wants to see something blowup like the Batman: Arkham Knight ordeal!
