The second half of Double Fine Productions’ Broken Age will finally be available April 28 on Linux, Mac and Windows PC.
That same day, Broken Age will launch in its entirety on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita, the studio announced on the PlayStation Blog. The game will support cross-buy, so buyers of either version will get the other at no additional charge, and cross-save. Double Fine previously worked with Sony on Grim Fandango Remastered.
Customers who have already purchased Broken Age through Steam will receive Act 2 as a free update. Once the second act is released, Double Fine will sell both halves in one package for $24.99. The studio announced earlier this year that it is partnering with Nordic Games to release the PC version at retail this spring.
Broken Age began in February 2012 on Kickstarter as Double Fine Adventure, and Double Fine ended up raising more than $3.33 million through the crowdfunding platform. At the time, the studio planned to launch the full game in October 2012. Double Fine revealed the final name, Broken Age, in March 2013. That July, the studio announced that because of its ever-growing ambitions for the project, it would be splitting up the game into two parts and selling the first half in January 2014 to fund the development of the second half. Originally planned for release in 2014, Broken Age Act 2 was delayed in November to “early 2015.”
