Bradley Cooper may reunite with his American Sniper director Clint Eastwood for The Mule, the filmmaker’s next directorial effort which he also plans to star in.
Warner Bros. Pictures and Imperative Entertainment are behind the project, Eastwood’s first acting job since “Trouble With the Curve” in 2012. Eastwood plays a man in his 80s who is broke, alone, and facing foreclosure of his business when he is offered a job that simply requires him to drive.
Unbeknownst to Earl, he’s just signed on as a drug courier for a Mexican cartel, and also has popped up on the radar of hard-charging DEA agent Colin Bates (Cooper). The story is based on a 2014 New York Times Magazine feature by Sam Dolnick.
Eastwood, Dan Friedkin and Bradley Thomas, Ruben Fleischer, Dave Bernad and Todd Hoffman will produce.
