BigFest

Hey, remember BigFest? Yeah. It finally launched!

Announced by Sony at E3 2013, the concert-management sim was due to hit PlayStation Vita sometime last fall. It didn’t. No one really knew what happened to it, and now it’s finally surfaced — and not as a free to play title, as was originally planned. It’s $9.99.

BigFest’s twist on the amusement-tycoon simulation genre is that the bands a player hires on are in fact real, served into the game through Jamendo, the “largest free-music platform in the world.” So there’s an element of discovering real unisgned acts and seeing if they catch on with your crowds of virtual concert-goers.

The goal is to make everybody happy, both with good acts and smartly chosen amenities such as concessions and restrooms. There’s an asynchronous multiplayer component, too, which allows players to visit others’ festivals either to groove on whatever is playing there or to sabotage their shows.
