Elder-Scrolls-6-release-date-683648The company put on a solid show for their second Bethesda E3 event earlier this month, revealing the release of Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim Special Edition was set for 2016. One project that won’t be arriving anytime soon is Elder Scrolls 6, with director Todd Howard telling fans afterward: “It’s a very long way off.

“It’s something that’s going to take a lot of time, what we have in mind for that game.”

Since then, Bethesda’s Pete Hines has also shared his thoughts on the new project, as well as clarifying its current status.

“We aren’t working on TES6 at the moment,” he told a fan on Twitter, before adding that Elder Scrolls 6 was still “years and years away,” and wasn’t close enough to be given an estimated release date. Unsurprisingly, not much is known on the potential location for the next Elder Scrolls title, many expect Argonia to be the next focus for the franchise, however, there is also a groundswell of support for a Skyrim sequel.

The province is also known as Black Marsh and is one of nine that make up the whole Tamriel area. Elder Scrolls Online remains the main focus for Bethesda, alongside the new Special Edition of Skyrim on PS4, Xbox One and PC.

It was recently revealed that more than 7 million people have logged on to The Elder Scrolls Online to explore Tamriel and uncover its mysteries in the two years since it launched on PC, followed by PS4 and Xbox One.
