Bethesda already has Skyrim running on Xbox One. It’s done! Ready to go! Tell us the pre-order bonuses! There’s just one teensy issue: the studio only ported Skyrim as a new-gen exercise in the lead-up to Fallout 4, and it doesn’t seem to have any plans to actually release it.

“The first thing we did was port Skyrim to Xbox One,” game director Todd Howard told Game Informer. “Don’t get your hopes up yet.”

There’s a lot more to remaking / remastering / definitively editioning a game than just getting it to run on new hardware, of course. But considering how Skyrim is the third-most requested game for Xbox One backwards compatibility, it probably wouldn’t take much more than that to get a bunch of people to buy it all over again.

If knowing that there’s a current-gen Skyrim sitting on a hard drive somewhere and you can’t play it threatens to drive you mad,  just know Fallout 4 is coming on November 10.
