Best Buy announced that it will begin rolling out twelve Best Buy Express automated kiosks in major airports across the U.S. as part of a pilot program. Best Buy Express kiosks will offer a variety of products and accessories at store prices that they hope will appeal to both the business and leisure travelers. Best Buy has teamed with third party ZoomSystems to launch the test.

“The launch of Best Buy Express is another way for Best Buy to provide consumers with the products they need from a brand they trust, even while they’re on-the-go,” said Chris Stidman, vice president of Strategic Planning for Best Buy. “Whether travelers are looking to purchase a last minute gift or are in need of replacement for a lost, forgotten or broken product, these kiosks will allow them to purchase the product they want from a brand they trust.”

The Test ToT staff have seen these types of kiosks selling iPods at airports and  convention  centers before have never seen anyone getting an item from them.  Then again without a computer, how do to you get music on your iPod?  Even with the iTouch, you first must get your account info on via computer.  But a Kiosk with cameras, memory cards and other things that can just work out of the box, Best Buy could have a winner for those of who always forget something when packing that they need for a trip.

Best Buy Express kiosks can be found at airports in the following cities: Atlanta (ATL), Boston (BOS), Dallas (DFW), Houston (IAH), Las Vegas (LAS), Los Angeles (LAX), Minneapolis (MSP) and San Francisco (SFO). The rollout is expected to continue through September 1.
