The DC animated universe is set to take on a Victorian flavor soon with Gotham by Gaslight, the upcoming direct-to-VOD animated feature based on the first of the ‘Elseworlds’ Batman comic titles.
Now it has been revealed the Caped Crusader will soon get another makeover with the reveal of Batman Ninja, a new direct-to-video animated movie that reinvents the hero as a ninja
On top of that, the project is being worked on by Afro Samurai creator Takashi Okazaki and will be done with anime style animation. Warner Bros. Japan and Warner Bros. Home Entertainment are teaming for the project which will be unveiled at New York Comic-Con next weekend.
Batman Ninja panel will be presented on the Main Stage at the Javits Center from 1:45 to 2:45 p.m. ET on Thursday, October Here’s the official description of the panel.
“Warner Bros. Japan and Warner Bros. Home Entertainment team for an eye-popping addition to the Batman animated legacy with Batman Ninja, a spectacular, all-new anime film coming in 2018. Be among the first to witness the premiere of colorful footage from this imaginative take on Batman and many of his connected characters. Panelists will include director Jumpei Mizusaki, character designer Takashi Okazaki, screenwriter Kazuki Nakashima, English-language screenwriters Leo Chu & Eric Garcia and some potential special guests.”
Jumpei Mizusaki (JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure) helms the project which was penned by Kazuki Nakashima (Kamen Rider Fourze). A 2018 release is expected.
