Bank of America ATMs in Boston Now Let You Video Conference

Posted by at 12:21 am on April 5, 2013

Bank of America is adding video conferencing to its automatic teller machines. The video chat facility will allow bank customers to see and speak to tellers in order to perform more advanced bank transactions than would normally be available to an ATM user, as well as providing a more personal experience to users.

ATM with Teller Assist will allow for checks to be cashed for exact amounts including change, and to withdraw cash in specific note denominations, writes the LA Times. In the future, the system will allow for loan and credit card payments, splitting deposits between accounts, and check deposits with cash back.

While the option to talk to a bank employee in English or Spanish will be available for customers using ATMs at banking center, drive-up, and remote locations, video chats will only work during extended hours, excluding holidays. Outside of these times, the ATM will provide its normal service, something that the customer can elect to use instead of speaking to staff.

ATM with Teller Assist will initially roll out in Boston, before appearing in other US locations throughout 2013.
