Kixeye has announced the two-year anniversary of Backyard Monsters, it’s real-time strategy (RTS) game on Facebook. In celebration of this milestone, the new Facebook Timeline for the Backyard Monsters page is live, capturing the evolution of the game with over two years of archived footage, exclusive artwork and milestones.

“We’re proud of what Backyard Monsters has achieved over the last two years. It was a huge leap forward in terms of what was possible in the browser from a design perspective and proved that high quality games could exist on the Facebook platform,” said David Scott, co-founder and executive producer at Kixeye. “It’s come a long way since we launched, and it continues to highlight our desire to innovate, take risks and make the most fun browser-based games on the planet.”

The company’s mission has always been to keep Backyard Monsters fresh and exciting for both new and experienced players. With new content added nearly every week, there are many times the monsters and buildings as when the game started. Its graphical overhaul after the first six months – from cutesy monsters to blood-thirsty beasts – was just the beginning of the Backyard universe’s re-invention. Since its humble origins, the game has continued to innovate by launching a World Map, Champion Monsters, and the underground world of Inferno.

Backyard Monsters has earned many hours of devoted gameplay from fans since its inception:

  •     20,000,000,000+ gallons of virtual blood spilled
  •     3,000,000,000+ monsters created
  •     200,000,000+ PVP attacks
  •     175,000,000+ hours played
  •     20,000,000+ game installs

Dedicated fans can now visit the newly implemented Facebook Timeline for the Backyard Monsters page at www.facebook.com/BackyardMonsters. As part of the continued anniversary celebration, Backyard Monsters will also host Monster Madness – an exclusive community event in which players have the opportunity to search high and low to claim an all-new Inferno Champion Monster, Korath, for their very own. With a little luck and a lot of monster bloodshed, Korath will make its home in the winning players’ Yards.
