In a recent announcement, Audi CEO Rupert Stadler offered details of three full-electric cars the German automaker plans to introduce in the next three years.

The e-tron SUV, a Tesla Model X fighter that goes on sale next year, will have a range of 311 miles, Stadler said last week at the company’s annual earnings conference. The vehicle was previewed by the e-tron quattro concept unveiled at the 2015 Frankfurt auto show.

The e-tron Sportback that will follow in 2019 will be a fastback model sitting lower than an SUV but offering a more elevated driving position than a standard hatchback, Stadler said.

The third EV will be a compact model built on VW Group’s new MEB platform for EVs. It will debut in 2020, shortly after Volkswagen brand’s version based on VW’s I.D. compact hatchback unveiled last year at the Paris auto show.

After 2020 Audi plans to add an EV version in each of its core model series. They will be differentiated from standard vehicles with a recognizable design.
