Asus has taken the wraps off its first ‘hardcore’ gaming mouse, the Republic of Gamers GX1000. The new mouse is clad in aluminum and incorporates a wide range of programmable functions to help ensure optimal gaming control, while its shape is also designed to reduce fatigue during long sessions. Users can customize dpi switching and indication on the fly, while also being able to program six different macros.

The ROG GX1000 is capable of achieving a high precision 8200dpi tracking speed using laser optical sensors, while buttons can be reprogrammed and remapped according to game genre. These can also be save as presets, with the device capable of storing up to four presets at any one time. It also includes a weight system to allow users to adjust the balance of the GX1000 in their hand.

To help users state their gaming intent, the GX1000 also comes with the ability to be lit in four different colors that can also be assigned to different users and different presents.

It is compatible with Windows XP, Vista, 7 and 8 PCs and uses a wired USB 2.0 connection. The ROG GX1000 retails for $100.
