Asus has shown off two new additions to its Transformer range of convertible devices, The Transformer Book Trio is billed as a “three in one” device that converts between an Android tablet, a Windows 8 notebook, and a Windows 8 desktop PC, while the Transformer Pad Infinity is an upgraded version of something the company has demonstrated previously.

The main unit of the Transformer Book Trio is the detachable tablet with an 11.6-inch 1080p display. Inside is an Intel Atom processor running at 2GHz with 64GB of storage. When on its own, the tablet can switch between Android 4.2 and Windows 8 using a dedicated key when attached to the notebook keyboard. When inserted into the desktop dock, its fourth-generation Intel Core i7 becomes usable under Windows 8, and as well as charging up the tablet and notebook keyboard’s 33Wh and 19Wh batteries, it also offers an extra 1TB hard disk as storage.

The Transformer Pad Infinity has been updated to have a 10.1-inch 2560×1600-resolution IPS display, and a quad-core Tegra 4 processor running at 1.9GHz with 2GB of RAM. The tablet includes 32GB of storage, a 5-megapixel rear camera, a 1.2-megapixel front-facing version, a USB 3.0 port, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, and an SD card slot. The keyboard dock provides an extra battery and a multi-touch trackpad, and the device’s HDMI port is capable of outputting 4K-resolution video.

Prices for the Transformer Book Trio and Transformer Pad Infinity were not disclosed by Asus, but the Trio will apparently launch sometime in the third quarter.
