Apple Updates Logic Pro and Logic Express

Apple has updated its pro-audio software Logic Pro and Logic Express to v9.1.4, addressing a number of minor issues and adding support for working with Garageband projects created on the iPad. The changes are identical for both the Pro and Express versions, and include a fix for an issue where a generic interface would appear in 64-bit mode for some 32-bit plug-ins, and changes and improvements to performance, stability, automation, audio editing, control surface support and more.

Among the fixes are a resolution for a problem where the key commands “Next Screenset” and “Previous Screenset” were reversed; an issue introduced in v9.1.2 in which pickup mode for generic control surfaces did not work properly; a fix for an issue introduced in Logic 9.1 in which performing “Undo” after using the “Move Visible Track Automation to Region” command would delete the automation, as well as a fix for a problem in which moving a region to a different Arrange track assigned to the same channel strip could cause the automation to be deleted.

The update resolves an issue where Logic would sometimes get slow after a project that was saved without assets was consolidated, and Logic no longer quits unexpectedly when copying, pasting or swapping voices between slots in Ultrabeat. Drag-copy of automation curves now works as expected on grouped tracks, and audio regions that contain slashes in the name can now be successfully merged using the Glue Tool or Merge command.

Many other fixes were made to the audio editing tools and procedures in Logic, including making quantization of audio regions that have been stretched or compressed and contain tempo information work more reliably; Quantize and Q-Strength now work properly; doing an Undo after flattening some takes on a group of flexed tracks now performs as expected and many other minor fixes as detailed in the release notes.

The download of the 9.1.4 update for Logic Pro is 192.48MB in size, while for Logic Express it is 138.74MB. Both require at least Mac OS X 10.5.8 or later.
