On Friday, Apple updated its drivers for HP and Epson printer, scanner and all-in-one (AIO) products for Macs running OS X 10.7 (Lion), Mountain Lion (10.8), Mavericks (10.9) and Yosemite (10.10). The updates are likely to already be included in the forthcoming 10.10.4 update set for later this month (currently in beta testing), and updates every currently-available driver alongside adding new support for new models.

The Epson and HP updates are the first since a similar update for FujiXerox drivers went out in mid-April. Most users will see the update as a “delta” or in-place update obtained through Software Update that will deliver custom portions of the larger “combo” update to users based on the printers already existing on a users’ system. A larger “combo” update with all drivers for all makes of a particular company’s products can be found on Apple’s support website.

The HP update adds support for the HP Color LaserJet M552 and M553; the HP Color LaserJet Pro M252; the HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M277 and M277.Fax; and the HP LaserJet M604, M605, and M606 models. Nearly all over drivers for existing and supported HP units have been updated in the new 3.1 combo package, which weighs in at 573.3MB.

The Epson update includes support for new units as well, such as the L130, L132, L220, L222, L310, L312, L360, L362, L365, L366, L456, L565, and L566 series printers; the PX-M350F AIO; the PX-M860F, PX-S350, and PX-S860 printers; and the WF-6530, WF-M5190, and WF-M5690 series of AIOs. It also updated support for the company’s entire range of supported standalone scanner models.

Further, the Epson update improved support for the following units: the L1300 series of printers; the PX-M7050, PX-M7050FX, PX-M840F, PX-M840FX, PX-S7050, PX-S7050PS, PX-S7050X, PX-S840, PX-S840X, SC-P600, SC-PX5V2 series of printers; the WF-R4640, WF-R5190, WF-R5690, and WF-R8590 series of AIOs.

Additional listings of supported printers, scanners and AIOs can be found here.
