AOC’s New Portable IPS Monitor Supports Automatic Orientation Adjustment

AOC has announced the  I1659FWUX plug-and-play 16” portable IPS display based DisplayLink technology.

The display features a 15.6” 60Hz 1080p IPS panel and offers a 700:1 contrast ratio, which is all you need for a presentation display or to extend your desktop real estate. Do note the monitor has a few slow a 25ms refresh rate. On the plus side, due to the monitor being based on an IPS panel, it supports wide viewing angles of 160 degrees .

It comes with flexi-stand which  allows you to stand the display in portrait or landscape orientation. The company also included sensors that allow the display to detect its orientation and adapt the screen’s output to match, so no need to dive into Windows display settings to switch between portrait and landscape mode.

AOC’s I1659FWUX display even has an VESA 75 x 75mm mounting points, which allows you to mount the monitor to any VESA-monitor stand.

The portable monitor features DisplayLink technology, which allows the display to operate without a dedicated graphics adaptor. DisplayLink technology leverages the versatility of the USB 3.0 standard to allow video signals over the universal serial bus. It also enables the use of multiple USB displays at once.

AOC  I1659FWUX will ship from Amazon on May 12. You  pre-order now, while AOC I1659FWUX has an MSRP of $199. As of this writing Amazon’s product page  has the monitor selling for $149.90.
