arc-lad-twilight-spiritsIt might have taken awhile after the official announcement, but “Arc the Lad: Twilight of the Spirits” is finally available on the PS4. The classic roleplaying game (RPG) is the latest PS2-to-PS4 game to come out, joining other quality titles like “Rogue Galaxy,” “Dark Cloud,” “Grand Theft Auto: Vice City” and much more.

“Twilight of the Spirits” release was announced on “The Drop” article from the official PlayStation Blog. While the game’s release date Jan. 12 was shown, it should be noted that the price for the game wasn’t revealed. Most of the prices for PS2-to-PS4 games have ranged from $10 to $15, so fans can expect it to have either price.

The game was released back in 2003 on the PS2, receiving plenty of praise for its interesting story and tactical battle system. Battles are similar to “Final Fantasy Tactics,” where players have to be smart about their character’s movements and positions. It was satisfactory then and should wield the same results now.

As far as the plot goes, there is an ongoing war between the Human and the Deimos. Both races aim to capture the Great Spirit Stones, with Humans thinking it will be a source of power and light, while the Deimos think it will make their spells stronger. Players will control characters from both races, as an intriguing way to get the full story.

For those wondering what the next PS2 classic would be, GameSpot has confirmed that “King of Fighters 2000” will be the next game that will be playable on the PS4. With a new “King of Fighters” game coming to the current-gen system, it seems like a deliberate move in hindsight.

“Max Payne” from Rockstar has been heavily rumored to get the PS2-to-PS4 treatment for quite sometime now, due to it being rated by the ESRB. As of this writing, no official announcement about the third-person shooter has been made regarding a PS2-to-PS4 copy.

“Arc the Lad: Twilight of the Spirits” should be available soon, since its release date is Jan. 12. PS4 users simply have to wait for the game to arrive on the PlayStation Store, before reliving the classic RPG.
