Annabelle 3 Set Between Conjurings Films

Filming will begin shortly on a third film in the “Annabelle franchise, itself a spin-off of The Conjuring and overall the sixth film in this unlikely but successful horror cinematic universe.

In terms of the overall timeline of the film series, each entry has kind of been all over the place. The recent The Nun comes first as it has a primarily 1952 setting, followed by Annabelle: Creation set in 1955, the first Annabelle set in 1967, the first The Conjuring set in 1971, and the second The Conjuring set in 1977.

We know both a third Annabelle and a third The Conjuring film are on the way and speaking with Cinema Blend, screen writer Gary Dauberman explained when the next Annabelle takes place:

“This is the Warrens picking up where they bring Annabelle home after we see that in The Conjuring, after they visit the nurses’ apartment. It happens a little while after that, so they bring it home and they’re aware of the doll’s evil, and sort of worry about her presence among the other artifacts. So before Conjuring 2, after [the beginning of] Conjuring.”

Dauberman will be making his directorial debut with the horror feature which will be set primarily in the Warren’s artifact museum. It begs the question of whether Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson’s Lorraine and Ed Warren will appear either in a small or large capacity in the film. Dauberman won’t say:

“That is something I’m not going to confirm or deny. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see, but just going off the story and all that stuff, it is inside their home.”

Annabelle 3 is going into production next month in Los Angeles.
