AmazonLocal Coming to the Kindle

Amazon announced that it will be start presenting deals from AmazonLocal on the Kindle with Special Offers Wi-Fi and 3G editions. The new service will kick off in New York City and roll out to all 44 AmazonLocal cities this year. The coupons appear on the Kindle’s screensaven when the e-reader is not being used, or when customers browse through AmazonLocal. Customers make purchases directly from their Kindle. A voucher is sent to the unit to redeem the deal from the merchant, without having to print anything.

In addition to New York, AmazonLocal operates in 43 locations, including Chicago, Los Angeles, Miami, San Francisco and Seattle.

Upcoming AmazonLocal deals for New York City Kindle customers in Downtown, Midtown, Uptown (including the Upper East Side and Upper West Side) and Brooklyn include:

  • $7 for a one-hour bike rental in Central Park ($15 value)
  • $5 for $10 at Dangerfield’s Comedy club
  • $59 for one month unlimited yoga classes at Bikram Yoga Grand Central ($180 value)
  • $5 for $10 worth of ice cream and ice cream cakes at Coldstone Creamery
  • $45 for lunch at City Winery ($98 value)

The functionality for receiving AmazonLocal deals on Kindle with Special Offers will be delivered as part of a software update for latest generation Kindles in the coming weeks.
