Amazon and PBS have expanded the scope of their video content deals. Under the new agreement, Amazon Prime members will have access over 1,000 episodes of PBS programs. Amazon is beefing up its content library in anticipation of shipping its newest reader/tablet, the $199 Kindle Fire, on November 15.

The PBS titles will include NOVA, Masterpiece, and Antiques Roadshow, along with the Ken Burns’ documentaries including The Civil War, The National Parks, Baseball, Jazz, and Prohibition. Also covered by the agreement will be 200 episodes of Julia Child’s classic cooking program The French Chef. In all, Amazon plans to offer 12,000 titles for streaming by the end of this year.

Amazon’s Prime video subscription service costs $79 annually. Amazon will be offering a month’s free trial to all Kindle Fire owners.
