Count Al Pacino among the A-list actors making the leap into streaming series. The Oscar and Emmy winner is nearing a deal to join an Amazon drama called The Hunt from Jordan Peele’s Monkeypaw Productions and Sonar Entertainment. It would mark Pacino’s first series-regular role.

Created by David Weil, The Hunt follows a band of Nazi hunters in New York City circa 1977. They discover that hundreds of high-ranking Nazi officials have made a home in the United States and plan to create a Fourth Reich there, then set out on a bloody mission to stop the plan.

The deal is not yet signed, but when it goes through Pacino will join the previously cast Logan Lerman in the series, which has a 10-episode order from Amazon. Lerman plays a young man whose grandmother is murdered and becomes swept up in The Hunt organization as he tries to find the perpetrator. Pacino will play a veteran Nazi hunter who mentors Lerman’s character.

Pacino has won Emmys for HBO’s Angels in America and You Don’t Know Jack and starred in a couple other projects for the premium service. His only prior credit in an ongoing series was his very first, a guest shot on NYPD in 1968.

Weil will executive produce The Hunt with Nikki Toscano (24: Legacy); the two will serve as co-showrunners. Peele and Monkeypaw’s Win Rosenfeld are also executive producers along with Tom Lesinski and Jenna Santoianni for Sonar.
