acer-veriton-z2640g,N-A-393526-1Acer has launched a series of AIO desktops that’s easy to maintain and upgrade thanks to a screw-less chassis design. Called the Veriton Z2640G series, these AIO desktops have a flexible frame that tilts from 6 to 60 degrees, removable feet and VESA wall-mount support, allowing it to be hung on a wall to save space. Only two models are offered, costing a mere $539 for the Veriton Z2640G-UC1007X and $599 for the Veriton Z2640G-UP2117X.

According to the specs, the cheaper UC1007X model sports an Intel Celeron 1007U dual-core processor clocked at 1.5 GHz (2 MB cache), 2 GB of DDR3 SDRAM (up to 16 GB), a 500 GB 7200 RPM hard drive, a DVD burner, and Intel HD graphics. There’s also an SD card slot, Gigabit LAN, Wireless N, HDMI input, a built-in 2MP webcam, one USB 3.0 port, two USB 2.0 ports, two HD speakers and an HD microphone.

As for the more expensive UP2117X, this model features an Intel Pentium 2117U dual-core CPU clocked at 1.8 GHz (2 MB cache), 4 GB of DDR3 SDRAM (up to 16 GB), a 500 GB 7200 RPM hard drive, a DVD burner, and Intel HD graphics. It’s essentially a mirror of the cheaper model, only with a different processor and installed memory amount. Both ship with Windows 8 Pro, but users can downgrade to Windows 7 Professional if needed.

The specs show that both AIO PCs provide a 19.5 inch anti-glare LED-backlit LCD screen packing a 1600 x 900 resolution and a 5 ms response time – touch isn’t included. They also feature Acer’s Dust Defender which prevents dust from accumulating inside the systems. Acer said this technology leverages an intelligent reversing mechanism in the cooling fan to flush out dust, enabling the components to stay cool, perform better and last longer.

The desktops also come with Acer eLock Management password protection to lock removable data devices and other interfaces to ensure that data can’t be stolen. There’s also Acer PowerSaver for configuring power levels according to computer usage, Acer SmartBoot for automatically loading frequently used programs in the system tray at start up, and Acer eSettings Management for configuration and control of the system.

Acer said the two new AIO desktops are now available through value-added resellers and channel partners.
