acer-predator-ag3-605,V-W-392540-3Acer America launched on Wednesday a new series of desktops promising power, performance and superb audio for games, movies and more. They’re “multimedia monsters”, packed with options like Sound Blaster Cinema, EAX, fourth-generation Intel Core “Haswell” processors, Nvidia GeForce GTX 660 graphics, two open PCIe slots and two bays for additional hardware and drives, and more, depending on the model. This is the new Predator AG3-605 Series from Acer, and is available now starting at $999.99 USD.

“Our new Predator AG3-605 Series offers a range of models to suit various power and budget requirements for those needing a system for games and other multimedia pursuits,” said Frank Chang, director of desktop product management for Acer America. “Outfitted with fantastic audio technology and Intel’s fourth generation processors, these desktops give gamers and multimedia enthusiasts a robust system for enjoying the latest mainstream games, music and movies.”

There seems to be five SKUs ranging from $999.99 to $1499.99 USD. The most expensive model, the AG3-605-UR20, sports an Intel Core i7-4770 quad-core processor clocked at 3.4 GHz, 32 GB of DDR3 RAM, a GeForce GTX 660 GPU with 1.5 GB of VRAM, a 3 TB HDD, a Blu-ray writer, Wireless N and Ethernet networking, and Windows 8. Ports include HDMI output, four USB 2.0 ports, two USB 3.0 ports, audio jacks and more.

The AG3-605-UR21, costing $999.99, obviously isn’t quite so meaty. It’s packed with an Intel Core i5-4430 quad-core processor clocked at 3 GHz, 8 GB of DDR3 RAM (32 GB max spanning two slots), a GeForce GTX 660 with 1.5 TB of VRAM, a 2 TB HDD, a DVD burner, Wireless N and Ethernet connectivity, and Windows 8. It seems to have the same port configuration as the previous desktop, and both also feature an SD card slot and Bluetooth.

The new series also consists of the AG3-605-UR22 for $1199.99, the AG3-605-UR23 for $1299.99, and the AG3-605-UR24 for $999.99. The latter rig, despite its cheap price compared to the others, has an Intel Core i7-4770 quad-core processor clocked at 3.4 GHz, a GeForce GT 640 GPU with 4 GB of VRAM, 12 GB of DDR3 RAM, a 2 TB HDD, a DVD burner, Wireless N networking and more. It’s nearly identical to the AG3-605-UR21 save for the GPU, CPU and power supply.

Acer said that select systems can be fitted with up to a 120 GB SSD, and up to a 3 TB 7200 RPM SATA 3 hard drive. They’re also EAX compliant, packed with Sound Blaster Cinema, and feature embedded HD audio with 5.1-channel surround sound. There’s even an exclusive headset cradle that enables gamers, movie and music lovers users to hang their headset directly on the machine, freeing up space elsewhere. Clever.

The Acer Predator AG3-605 desktop PCs are available at leading retailers with a starting price of $999.99 and a limited one-year warranty.
