Acer took its opportunity at CeBIT to show a complete redesign of its ultrathin notebook line, the TimelineX per a report in notebookitalia. The 13.3-inch 3830T and 14-inch 4830T both have a more upscale, part-metal design borrowed from the Ethos, extending to the new ‘chiclet’ key layout and the more reliable barrel hinge. Both systems will have some pow to them since they are both expected shift to 2011 Core processors and have a GeForce GT 540M with 2GB of video memory.

The main difference between the two is screen size, but it’s believed a base 3830T would start with 3GB of RAM where higher end configurations will have 4GB; USB 3.0 and HDMI out. The 4830T is known to have a low-voltage 2.3GHz Core i5, Intel’s faster integrated video and a DVD burner. Despite the upgraded processor, Acer has estimated that it will last as much as nine hours on battery.
