Summit Entertainment (via Entertainment Weekly) has released five new animated character portraits for the anticipated sequel, The Divergent Series: Insurgent, which you can check out below! They have also revealed that the film will be digitally re-mastered into the immersive IMAX format and released in IMAX 3D theatres domestically on March 20 and in international territories starting March 18.
“After the success of the first ‘Divergent,’ along with the global hit phenomena of ‘The Hunger Games’ and ‘Twilight,’ Lionsgate and Summit continue to prove that they are at the forefront of adapting novels for the worldwide cinema,” said Greg Foster, Senior Executive Vice President, IMAX Corp. and CEO of IMAX Entertainment. “We believe that ‘The Divergent Series: Insurgent’ will be an action-packed next chapter for IMAX audiences to experience around the world.”
Directed by Robert Schwentke, the film stars Shailene Woodley, Theo James, Kate Winslet, Octavia Spencer, Suki Waterhouse, Jonny Weston, Naomi Watts, Rosa Salazar and Keiynan Lonsdale. It will be released on March 20, 2015.
Insurgent raises the stakes for Tris as she searches for allies and answers in the ruins of a futuristic Chicago.
