Warner Bros. Pictures has delayed two of the Ben Affleck movies the studio had scheduled for the next two years, including the crime-drama Live By Night, his follow-up to the Oscar-winning Argo, and The Accountant, Gavin O’Connor’s action-thriller co-starring Anna Kendrick and J.K. Simmons.

This is the second delay for Live by Night, which Affleck was writing and directing, as it’s moved to sometime in 2017 from October 2016, although Affleck had already cast Sienna Miller, Zoe Saldana and Elle Fanning for the Boston-set period piece based on Dennis Lehane‘s novel. (Affleck’s directorial debut Gone Baby Gone was also based on Lehane’s work.)

The Accountant will be pushed back from January 2016 to October 7, 2016, which is the same weekend in which Argo was released as well as other Warner Bros. hits, such as 2013’s Gravity.

The presumption is that they want Affleck to focus on writing his solo Batman movie with Geoff Johns, while also preparing to reprise his role from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice in Zack Snyder’s Justice League, which will start filming in Spring 2016.
