VW Shows Cross Coupe GTE at NAIAS 2015

Volkswagen introduced its new five-seater Cross Coupe GTE at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) 2015. This is a preview to the one of the most important model of Volkswagen the seven seater mid-size SUV.

The new Cross Coupe GTE uses a plug-in hybrid system with a maximum output of 355 horsepower and also an all-wheel drive system that uses an electric driveshaft. Moreover the hybrid also has a manufacturer estimated fuel economy rating of 70 MPGe.

The chief designer at Volkswagen Klaus Bischoff stated that the Cross Coupe GTE is the ambassador of a new design language developed by Volkswagen for the U.S. Moreover he also stated that the concept is a brilliant one and it is very powerful with a look that makes it very desirable out in the market.

Many of you would know and for those who don’t the GTE acronym is generally used for all sporty Volkswagen models with a high tech plug-in hybrid drivetrain. These models basically offer the driving characteristics of a grand tourer such as the Gran Turismo and the GT.

Thanks to the electric motors and a battery these models also offer zero emissions driving. So do not be surprised when I tell you that the Cross Coupe has a zero emissions range of up to 20 miles and can even reach 60 mph. the car is made available in several different modes such the E-Mode, Hybrid, GTE, Battery Hold/Battery Charge and Off-road.

The new Cross Coupe GTE is the third concept car that is presented by Volkswagen on the way to the production version of the mid-size SUV. These three concepts by the Volkswagen have been presented at the NAIAS in Detroit.

The Cross Coupe is 190.8 inches long and 79.9 inches wide. Klaus Bischoff stated that this car certainly makes a visual impact from every angle. He explained that no matter where you think of the Cross Coupe this new SUV by the company will look upscale everywhere.

The exterior of the car is pretty amazing and will leave everyone watching in awe. The headlights turn signals and the radiator grille of the car merge together seamlessly with two aluminum bars forming the basic structure of the radiator grille.

This model has also been equipped with LED headlights and four LED light wings. Now from these four, two of these have been added in the radiator grille and the other two in the lower air intake.

The North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) 2015 has been the platform of some amazing car models, concepts and services. The new Cross Coupe GTE SUV by Volkswagen is an example in itself. Many new SUV’s have been introduced at the NAIAS 2015 but the Cross Coupe GTE concept is just superb. The NAIAS 2015 is being held in Detroit and all car lovers should attend it.
