ViewSonic announced that it is now shipping the “future-proof” VX2475Smhl-4K, a 23.6-inch monitor sporting a native 3840 x 2160 resolution. The monitor can be purchased for $469.99 from a number of online retailers including Amazon, Office Depot, CDW, Walmart, Best Buy, Newegg and more, as well as ViewSonic’s online store.
ViewSonic deems this monitor as “future-proof” because it contains DisplayPort 1.2a and HDMI 2.0 connectivity, which supports Ultra HD content at 60 Hz. The monitor also supports MHL, which essentially allows an MHL-compatible device to receive a charge straight from the monitor while it pumps audio and video to the monitor’s screen.
The company indicated in its announcement that the new VX2475Smhl-4K is perfect for gaming and professional graphics/photography applications. Backing this claim are specifications that show this monitor provides a Viewing Mode feature, which contains a bundle of five presets: “Game,” “Mono,” “Movie,” “Text” and “Web.” These settings alter the brightness, contrast, color temperature and gamma curve, providing the best viewing experience for each application.
In addition to the Viewing Modes, the panel sports ViewSonic’s SuperClear PLS panel technology, which helps present clear images at 178-degree viewing angles. The panel also includes two 2-watt speakers, a headphone jack, a blue light filter and Flicker-Free technology to make the visuals easier on the eyes. The monitor is VESA-compatible, allowing users to mount the device on a wall.
According to the specifications, the new monitor has a response time of 4 ms, which should help lessen ghosting, streaking and blurring in videos and gaming. The VX2475Smhl-4K is also ENERGY STAR compliant, offering an Eco-mode for customers who want to save a little energy.
