Two New Games Released for Nintendo Switch This Week

There are two full-length games out on Nintendo Switch eShop — and in stores — this week, making this one of the biggest weeks for the console since launch. Both Ultra Street Fighter 2: The Final Challengers and Disgaea 5 Complete are coming to Switch, retooling some old-school games for the new system.

Both games have refinements and tweaks to make them new experiences on the Nintendo console. For Ultra Street Fighter 2: The Final Challengers, there are two new fighters to choose from and a handful of single-player and multiplayer features exclusive to this version of the game. Capcom calls this the newest take on the iconic fighting game in a decade, and the genre has been sorely underrepresented on Switch thus far, so this is a good choice for fans.

On the other side of the spectrum is Disgaea 5 Complete, which could be an intimidating choice for Nintendo fans who haven’t had a chance to play a Disgaea game on a Nintendo console since the first entry. The turn-based, tactical RPG series is friendly enough to newcomers, though, and it’s also well-suited for handhelds. Disgaea 5: Alliance of Vengeance came to PlayStation 4 in 2015, so this is the first time players have had the chance to experience it on a portable console. (Remote Play notwithstanding.) New features are light for the Switch version, although it saves players the trouble of having to buy all the game’s downloadable content separately.
