Toshiba Outs Satellite C, S, L, Radius, and Fusion Notebooks

Toshiba has announced it will be bringing out a large number of new notebooks in its Satellite ranges it will be releasing this summer. The new notebook ranges include entry-level additions to the Satellite C range for basic computer use, the higher-specification and 4K-capable Satellite S series, new additions to the Satellite Radius range including some with Ultra HD-resolution displays, the Satellite Fusion systems, and Satellite L series.

The new Satellite C notebooks are available in 15.6-inch and 17.3-inch variants with a TruBright display, packing a choice of Intel and AMD processors, up to 1TB of storage, and up to 8GB of RAM. Packed into an inch-thick matt black brushed resin case with a TruType keyboard, the notebooks include USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 ports, HDMI, an SD card reader, a DVD SuperMulti drive, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth.

The high-end offerings in the Satellite S series have display options including 15.6-inch and 17.3-inch screens, and the choice of a 4K IPS display, 1080p, or 1600×900 TruBrite multi-touch screen. Using fifth-generation dual and quad-core Intel processors with up to 16GB of RAM, the systems include up to 2TB in the single hard drive configuration or up to 1TB with an extra 128GB SSD, and optional discrete Nvidia graphics.

Fitted into an aluminum frame and also measuring one inch thick, the notebooks have a buttonless trackpad and a backlit TruType keyboard. While both have 4K-capable HDMI, an SD card reader, Wi-Fi Harman Kardon speakers with DTS sound, and a DVD SuperMulti drive, the smaller displays include three USB 3.0 ports while the larger 17.3-inch versions have two each of USB 2.0 and USB 3.0.

The convertible Satellite Radius range come in 14-inch, 15.6-inch, and 15.6-inch with 4K. Featuring a brushed metal construction, the notebooks can be changed to multiple different viewing modes for various purposes, such as presentations or watching a movie. The 15.6-inch models have fifth-generation Intel Core processors, with the 14-inch getting the extra option of an AMD APU. All include backlit keys, Wi-Fi, USB 2.0, two USB 3.0 ports, and an SD card slot, with the 4K edition also having Harman Kardon speakers and DTS Sound.

The Fusion notebooks are also convertible devices that can switch between tablet and notebook, thanks to a two-axis hinge. Equipped with a 15.6-inch multi-touch IPS 1080p display, it uses fifth-gen Intel Core processors, up to 12GB of RAM, and up to 1TB of hard drive or 128GB of SSD storage. Backlit keys, 4K-capable HDMI, two USB 3.0 and one 2.0 port, a memory card reader, and Skullcandy-tuned Onkyo speakers are also included.

Lastly, the Satellite L consist of 15.6-inch and 17.3-inch notebooks with 1080p IPS displays. Using a choice of Intel or AMD processors with up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage, the notebooks include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, a DVD drive, HDMI, two USB 3.0 and two USB 2.0 ports, and an SD card slot.

All of the new notebooks ship with Windows 8.1 onboard and can upgrade to Windows 10. They all also have HD webcams and a dual-array microphone, and a dedicated Cortana key to use Microsoft’s digital assistant when it becomes available.

Toshiba is shipping the Satellite C series on June 21, starting from $400. Also shipping on June 21, the Radius 14 and 15 will start from $585 and $840 respectively. The Satellite S range ships July 29, starting from $720 for the 15.6-inch model and $875 for the 17.3-inch version. The Satellite Fusion systems are available now, starting from $650. The 15.6-inch Satellite L series will go on sale on June 21 starting from $530, while the 17.3-inch versions will be out July 29 from $570.
