RobotechCult-favorite ’80s anime series “Robotech” is returning to comics. Titan Comics has partnered with TV production company Harmony Gold USA to adapt “Robotech” to comics beginning in early 2017. The creative team behind “Robotech’s” return will be announced by Titan in the coming weeks

Created by re-editing three different anime series, “Robotech” originally aired in syndication in the United States in 1984. It’s a sci-fi epic in which the human race finds itself on the brink of annihilation and under attack by a fleet of gigantic alien warships capable of destroying Earth. Humanity’s only hope for survival lies within the secrets of Robotechnology, which allows humans to develop powerful transforming robotic systems and interstellar spacecraft.

“Robotech” has been no stranger to comics over the past 30 years; publishers Comico and DC Comics published stories in the ’80s, and Dynamite Entertainment published a “Robotech/Voltron” crossover series as recently as 2013. “Robotech” joins a long list of properties licensed by Titan Press, which includes “Doctor Who,” “Torchwood,” “Assassin’s Creed” and more.

This isn’t the only big “Robotech” news to arrive in 2016, either; it was announced in May that the anime’s entire 85-episode run is streaming on Crackle Anime.
