The Westin Building Exchange (WBX), based in downtown Seattle,  announces today the completion of the first phase of a new expansion of its Seattle-based carrier hotel / colocation facility. WBX is adding 1 MW of critical power capacity to accommodate the growing needs of both new and existing colocation customers since they have increased their needs for faster access to American, Asian and Canadian markets

“WBX is where companies, countries and continents connect,” states Kyle Peters, General Manager, Westin Building Exchange. “The reason that organizations want to establish a presence within the Westin Building Exchange is due to the availability of multiple, cost-effective connectivity options and direct access to all major cloud providers, which are all located in our building. The 1 MW expansion of critical power capacity at WBX demonstrates our continued commitment to providing colocation and infrastructure space that grows with our customers’ evolving business requirements while maximizing their connectivity options and experience within our building.”

WBX also provides access to numerous other networks via the Seattle Internet Exchange (SIX) and the Pacific Northwest Gigapop (PNWGP) along with their connectivity points to American, Asian, Canadian and European network service providers, carriers, and ISPs. The availability of 1 MW of capacity in a concurrently maintainable 2N configuration was launched on May 1, 2018, and will continue to be introduced in phases.

WBX is the home to the Seattle Internet Exchange, one of the largest free public peering exchanges in the world, provides some of the lowest cross-connect rates in the industry. The facility offers the lowest latency available for transpacific circuits including 170 terabits of recently-landed subsea fiber.
