The New Global Mission for Pokemon Sun and Moon Is Underway Now

Game Freak holds monthly “Global Missions” for the recently released Pokémon Sun and Moon in an effort to keep players engaged in the games. They’re entirely optional challenges based on basic in-game tasks, though it requires the collective effort of millions of fans in order to achieve success. The last global mission was a bit ambitious—100 million Pokémon caught altogether—and fell woefully short of its goal, and now the second mission is underway.

The mission started on 27th December and runs until 9th January, and the challenge this time is for players to collectively capture or defeat one million Pokémon with the Island Scan feature. Players will be given 2,017 Festival Coins if the goal is hit and 217 Festival Coins if it falls short again. For those of you that have managed to navigate the process to tie your game to a Pokémon Global Link account, you’ll receive double the coins at the end for either result.
