The Grisaia TrilogySekai Project has given an update on the PS Vita versions of The Grisaia Trilogy after months of silence. The update is written by a new member of the team called Audi who was brought on specifically to help out with the PS Vita ports.

“In order to be approved, let alone have your titles viable to be put on a service like PSN requires a lot of paperwork, not to mention legalities from Japan, cleared up,” Audi writes.

“GDD (Game Design Documents) need to be made from scratch to fully explain the game inside and out, content needs to be accurately presented and explained, and the list goes on.”

The good news is that most of this process is now complete. Audi says that Sekai Project has “been able to progress rapidly and should have some very good news for Grisaia fans in the coming weeks.” It’s also noted that the state of the PS Vita ports will be updated much more regularly than before.

The Grisaia Trilogy spans three visual novels that were originally released in Japan. There’s The Fruit of Grisaia (which is getting its own anime adaptation), The Labyrinth of Grisaia, and finally The Eden of Grisaia. The story follows five girls who are the only attendees at Mihama Academy. You play as a transfer student who “with an uncertain past and a highly idiosyncratic personality” who joins them.

The girls are eccentric themselves, and form meaningful relationships with each other, all united by the painful wounds from their pasts. You get to know them and may even be able to have them open up their hearts to you.

Sekai Project acquired the funding translate and publish these huge visual novels in English through Kickstarter. The initial funding goal of $160,000 was smashed and the PC versions were secured. The $240,000 stretch goal to bring the trilogy to PS Vita was also easily secured.

But while The Fruit of Grisaia hit Steam for PC earlier this year not much about the PS Vita versions has been discussed until now. That’s why this update is significant.
