Electric car maker Tesla has hired on Apple’s Doug Field as its new head of vehicle engineering programs, reports say. While at Apple Field was the company’s Hardware VP, working first under Bob Mansfield, and later Dan Riccio. His resume also includes time at corporations like Segway, DEKA, and Johnson & Johnson.

During his Apple tenure he helped oversee computer lines such as the iMac, MacBook Air, and MacBook Pro. The extent of his involvement is unknown, but as a part of Tesla’s statement announcing the job change, Field is quoted as saying that until Tesla, he had “never seriously considered leaving Apple.” A source claims that Field actually left Apple last month.
