Sony Pictures has released a trailer from Danny Boyle’s long awaited Trainspotting sequel – T2 Trainspotting.

TriStar Pictures acquired worldwide rights to Danny Boyle’s much-anticipated sequel. T2 Trainspotting is based on characters created by Irvine Welsh. It will reunite director Danny Boyle with screenwriter John Hodge and all of the principal cast of the 1996 film—Ewan McGregor, Jonny Lee Miller, Ewen Bremner and Robert Carlyle will reprise the iconic roles of Renton, Sick Boy, Spud and Begbie.

First there was an opportunity… then there was a betrayal. Twenty years have gone by. Much has changed but just as much remains the same. Mark Renton (McGregor) returns to the only place he can ever call home. They are waiting for him: Spud (Bremner), Sick Boy (Lee Miller), and Begbie (Carlyle). Other old friends are waiting too: sorrow, loss, joy, vengeance, hatred, friendship, love, longing, fear, regret, diamorphine, self-destruction and mortal danger, they are all lined up to welcome him, ready to join the dance.

Producers on T2 Trainspotting are Andrew Macdonald, Danny Boyle, Christian Colson, and Bernie Bellew through Figment Films, Decibel Films, and Cloud Eight Films. Film4 is also a production entity.

T2 Trainspotting is now playing in the UK. In North America, the film will open in limited theaters on March 17 and will expand March 31
