The Hollywood Reporter gives word that Warner Bros. Pictures’upcoming Suicide Squad 2 has hired Adam Cozad (The Legend of Tarzan, Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit) set to pen the the next chapter.
It still not fully known which characters will appear in the upcoming sequel since Margot Robbie is set to star in a female-led spin-off titled Gotham City Sirens. Following the hugh success of the film last year ($745.6 million worldwide), however, and its Oscar win for Makeup and Hairstyling, it’s nearly witten in stone that Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Captain Boomerang, Killer Croc, Katana, Rick Flag, and Amanda Waller will all return for another movie
Despite being a priority for the studio, a director isn’t attached to the project just yet, with many names reportedly in contention for the job, including Mel Gibson (Hacksaw Ridge), Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland), Daniel Espinosa (Safe House), and Jonathan Levine (50/50)
Directed by David Ayer, the first Suicide Squad stars Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Adam Beach, Jai Courtney, Viola Davis, Cara Delevingne, Karen Fukuhara, Jay Hernandez, Joel Kinnaman, Jared Leto, Margot Robbie and Will Smith, most of whom are likely to return for the big screen follow-up. Ayer, meanwhile, is working with Robbie on the Gotham City Sirens film.
