Walter Isaacson’s biography of Steve Jobs has just gone live as an e-book ahead of its official October 24 unveiling. In unintentional irony, Steve Jobs has arrived first in the US on the Kindlerather than the iBookstore. Apple’s store is already making it available in Europe (iBookstore UK).

The book is one of the quickest to follow after its subject’s death, arriving less than three weeks after Jobs passed from cancer, and was coordinated with Jobs in advance as he knew he had a limited amount of time. As disclosed in a TV interview with Isaacson, the title reveals a large amount of Jobs’ history that had previously stayed secret, such as the reason for distance with his biological father. He even hinted at major product plans as he alluded to having solved the strategy for a TV set.

Early reviews from those who managed to buy or otherwise obtain pre-release copies have said it’s complimentary but fair. It acknowledges that Jobs was sometimes volatile and often insistent, but also captures the spirit of each of his launches and the impact they had on the industry
