Sony has officially released the ultrabook concepts that it first revealed at CES 2012 in January as a prototypes. Now known as the Sony Vaio T11 and T13, the 11-inch and 13-inch (1366×768) ultrabooks will initially arrive powered by Intel’s 2nd-gen Core processors as Intel’s ultra-low voltage 3rd-gen Ivy Bridge processors are not scheduled to arrive until later in the spring. Both models arrive with in a slim magnesium and aluminum chassis with the option of a hybrid 320GB hard drive/32GB SSD combination or full SSD.
The ultrabooks also sport 4GB of RAM an SD/MMC slot, Bluetooth 4.0, a USB 3.0 and a USB 2.0 port as well as an HDMI output. Sony has also fitted the ultrabooks with a smattering of its proprietary technology to help differentiate its new line including an Exmor for PC 720p integrated webcam, xLoud and Clear Phase sound technologies and bundled PlayMemories Home software.
Sony has also included Adobe Acrobat X Standard for PDF creation at no additional charge. Battery life is rated at 9 hours with SSD-only fitted as well as a 90 day stand-by capability. The 13-inch model also weighs in at 3.52 pounds, while both sport a 64-bit installation of Windows 7. The new Sony T-series ultrabooks are due this month, with pricing details to follow.
