Skytex has just introduced a pair of Skypad-series tablets that run on Android 4.0. The Skypad Protos sports a 9.7-inch screen while the Skypad Gemini is a 7-inch form factor. They otherwise share the same 1.2GHz Cortex A8 processor backed up by a Mali 400 GPU and 1GB of RAM.

Other commonalities include 8GB of integrated storage space, a microSD memory card slot, 5GB of cloud storage, and an HDMI and a miniUSB connection.

The larger tablet has an IPS touchscreen but its resolution is just 1024×768. It also has a pair of cameras, with a five-megapixel unit in the rear and a two-megapixel front-facing shooter. There is also Wi-Fi and Bluetooth onboard, but no 3G radio. Power comes from a 6,000mAh battery that promises over ten hours of web browsing. There is support for 1080p video playback and 3D output through the HDMI port. The tablet will ship early in July at a price of $279.

The smaller tablet has a rubberized coating on its body. Its screen resolution is 800×480, and there is a two-megapixel front camera. There is a 3,000mAh battery onboard that should provide up to six hours of use. It is priced at $179 and ships at the same time as the larger device.

Skytex promises access to more than 200,000 Android apps through the 1Mobile Market.
