dreamcatchersundance-211x119Showtime Networks has bought the rights to Kim Longinotto’s doc Dreamcatcher, which premieres at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival on Sunday, January 25, as part of the World Cinema Documentary Competition.

It follows the journey of Brenda Myers-Powell, a former Chicago prostitute who is trying to end human trafficking through the sexual exploitation of at-risk youth. Myers-Powell’s aid of women and teenage girls to break the cycle of sexual abuse and exploitation that leads to prostitution was the basis for her establishing The Dreamcatcher Foundation.

Longinetto previously directed Salma, Rough Aunties, and Divorce Iranian Style, and her latest film is produced by Lisa Stevens and Teddy Leifer, who was nominated for an Oscar for Kirby Dick’s The Invisible War, via Rise Films, Vixen Films and Green Acres along with Impact Partners and Artemis Rising Foundation.
