Shazam 5.0 for iOS Claims One Second Song Tagging – Speed Comes to Android Too

Shazam’s new 5.0 update for its iOS title (App Store) revamped the engine for its audio detection. The song and TV show tagging firm now claims that theprogram can recognize a song or audio-cued TV shows in “as little as” one second. It can start listening as soon as it’s open, making sure that the sampling gets in before the opportunity passes.

Several other improvements have come into play, including a startup that’s a second faster, and a lyric sync feature that’s more in step with music. The overall interface is faster, and iOS 5 owners can now edit Twitter sharing messages before they go out to followers.

Using the app on a basic level requires iOS 4.3 or newer. Shazam is claiming similar performance from the Android version.
