Samsung to Announce Galaxy A 2017 Series on January 5

After implying that the upcoming Galaxy A 2017 series would include water-resistant phones, Samsung today confirmed the name of the new series, as well as the date of its announcement.

Thanks to an invite sent to the press by Samsung Malaysia, we now know that the Galaxy A 2017 family will be officially announced on January 5 – that’s next week.

“This year, ring in a new wave of adventures and accomplishments to look forward to. Whether you live on the edge, or bask in spontaneous moments, embrace it and Live Unplanned,” reads the invite. While this particular invite is related to an event held in Malaysia, Samsung will almost certainly also bring the next-gen Galaxy A series to CES 2017, which starts on January 5 in Las Vegas.

The new Galaxy A family will include a 4.7-inch Galaxy A3 (2017), a 5.2-inch Galaxy A5 (2017), and a 5.7-inch Galaxy A7 (2017). All three handsets seem to be borrowing a bit from the design of the Galaxy S7, thus looking more refined than the Galaxy A 2016 models released this year. Before we get to know where and for how much the new smartphones will be launched, here’s a detailed look at what to expect from the Samsung Galaxy A 2017 family.
