Samsung Galaxy S II, Tab 10.1 Will Have TV-to-Mobile Live Streaming

Samsung’s mobile and TV hardware groups showed off a project they did together at an event in Budapest on Monday. Both the Galaxy S II and the Galaxy Tab 10.1 should have the option of connecting to one of Samsung’s new D7000 or D8000 TVs and streaming their own, separate TV feed over the local network. Both TVs have a second HD tuner and could turn the smartphones and tablets into full-fledged second TVs as long as they’re on the same local network.

Some of the details haven’t been outlined, such as whether the stream will be HD or if there will be any restrictions on the shows that will be viewable on one of Samsung’s Android devices. Devices that don’t have a cellular connection but could still be used to watch, such as the Galaxy S Wi-Fi 5.0, also aren’t certain to get the option.

Timing for the streaming feature hasn’t been disclosed. Also regional expansion also isn’t certain, but most features appear worldwide.
