MetroPCS has added the Samsung Galaxy S Lightray 4G to its lineup on Friday. The 4G-capable device is the first Galaxy S-branded device at the carrier, and is also the first to bring the Dyle mobile TV service to the US market. Another first the handset brings with it to MetroPCS is the ability to share its fast mobile broadband connection through a hotspot feature.
The handset otherwise gets a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED touchscreen along with a 1GHz processor, though the supplier isn’t being revealed. There is an eight-megapixel camera at the back and a 1.3-megapixel shooter in the front. The phone runs on Android 2.3.
MetroPCS doesn’t require subscribers to sign an annual contract, but the phone carries an unsubsidized price tag of $459. The plans start at $40 per month. Dyle will be part of some plans in select markets at no extra charge.
