Samsung Australia Says iPad, iPhone Violates Tech Patents

Samsung at last responded to Apple’s wins in Australia by submitting cross claims of its own. The allegations maintain that Apple is violating seven patents for wireless technology through the iPad and iPhone. The Federal Court movement also hopes to completely overturn Apple’s gains and invalidate its patents, including those that led to a preliminary ban on the Galaxy Tab 10.1.

The dispute escalates an already widening scope of lawsuits that recently reached Japan as well as the UK. Samsung has gradually been put more and more on the defensive and has had to appeal recent losses in Germany.

Apple began much of the campaign in April when it accused Samsung of copying the look of the iPad and iPhone with the Galaxy Tab 10.1 and Galaxy S series, along with some patent challenges. Samsung has had to respond largely with patents since it can’t make equivalent counterclaims.
