River City Ransom: Underground, originally announced for PC, the officially licensed sequel to the NES classic could be released on PlayStation 4 and Vita – via PlayStation Mobile – if the Kickstarter campaign reaches $280,000.

Conatus Creative said it held off announcing the stretch goal until it could work out a target that was “neither arbitrarily high, nor low enough to jeopardize commitments”.

“After lengthy discussions with our licensors, industry colleagues, and each other, we are able to define our first stretch goal. We can’t commit to a release date at this time, though we will strive for the earliest release possible, and keep everyone informed on our progress,” the developer said.

“We chose PS4 and PlayStation Vita because of Sony’s obvious commitment to indie game development, and because we felt a console is the natural place for a platforming beat’em up RPG. We imagine our fans will love the possibility of playing this game with their friends on these devices,” the team added.

Other platforms have not been ruled out, and Conatus intends to explore additional possibilities if it reaches this first port stretch goal.
