RIM Warns of BlackBerry Delays in Europe

Posted by at 3:35 pm on November 10, 2011

RIM’s troubles were compounded Wednesday after it confirmed that its EMEA (Europe, Middle East, and Africa) and Indian users were facing delays. While not an outage, users weren’t getting BlackBerry Messenger chats or e-mail on time. It didn’t yet have a cause or an estimated time for a fix as of the evening. The new problems came just under a month after RIM’s worst outage ever, where a failed backup in its UK-based servers for the EMEA triggered a cascade effect that took most all of the BlackBerry Internet Service offline for nearly four days. RIM hasn’t given signs as to whether the new problems stem from the same server or are technically related.
