Pokken TournamentPokken Tournament was developed by Bandai Namco Studios and published by The Pokémon Company, being released in July 2015 for Arcade machines, then on the Wii U consoles it became available on March 18. In this game, you’ll recognize the gameplay elements from the Tekken series, which will combine perfectly with Pokémon characters.

In Pokkén Tournament, each character will have multiple move sets and abilities and Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America’s Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing is convinced that the game will appeal many Pokémon fans. There are in total 16 Pokémon fighters and they all possess unique moves.

If you’re playing with Pikachu, you will strike down your opponents using electricity (Thunder), while Lucario will envelope fighters in energy (Aura Sphere). Many veteran Pokémon players were dreaming to perform these moves while playing as a Pokémon, and now they’ll be supported in battle by 30 additional Pokémon, including the popular Diglett and Magneton characters. They will temporarily help the player only in battle, when they will be called, then after helping him to win, they will go away.

Pokken Tournament has a single-player mode as well, in which the players will level up a Pokémon’s stats like Attack and Defense, personalize the trainer card with a favorite Pokémon fighter etc. Also, they will create an online greeting which will be used when fighting against other players in the online mode.

The local multiplayer matches is for playing with close friends and family members, as one of the players will use a Wii U GamePad controller, while the other will settle for the TV screen and a Wii U Pro Controller/Classic Controller/Pokkén controller, which is sold separately.

In Pokkén Tournament was included amiibo support and when tapping on an amiibo figure, some items will be unlocked in the game. If the player will buy the physical version of the game, he will receive also a Shadow Mewtwo amiibo card which will instantly unlock Shadow Mewtwo as a playable character.

The game has a retail price of $59.99, and can be purchased from Nintendo’s eShop on Wii U and from Nintendo’s official website.
