Pokemon ShuffleFree-to-play game Pokémon Shuffle has reached 2.5 million downloads worldwide, The Pokémon Company announced today. In commemoration of the figure, a free “Disruption Delay” item is being given out to all players.

Two weeks ago, The Pokémon Company announced that Pokémon Shuffle had reached 1 million downloads worldwide, which means that the game has seen another 1.5 million downloads since. It should be interesting to see how long growth can be maintained. With over 50 million Nintendo 3DSes in homes, there’s certainly room for much more.

Pokémon Shuffle is one of three prominent free-to-play games published on the 3DS by Nintendo—the other two being Rusty’s Real Deal Baseball and Steel Diver: Sub Wars.

Meanwhile, developers such as Sega, Genius Sonority, and Square Enix have been experimenting with free-to-play titles on the device in Japan, but these have yet to be released in the West. Genius Sonority in particular have seen success with their Denpa Men RPG Free! title, which has been downloaded 1.8 million times as of February.
